CheeseTracker
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CheeseTracker is an Impulse Tracker clone created by Juan Linietsky (who is also known as Reduz). It is a so-called tracker. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License. It runs under GNU/Linux and Mac OS X.
Since version 0.8 it makes use of the Qt graphical toolkit. It has a JACK Audio Connection Kit driver, thus its sound can be easily routed into other audio software. It is possible to route the instruments through internal and external LADSPA effects.
Version 0.9.1 can be found on two LiveCDs, dyne:bolic and AGNULA's LiveCD, with these CheeseTracker can be used without installing GNU/Linux or owning an Apple computer.
In 2001, Linietsky announced that he was "no longer able to work on Cheese Tracker."[1] CheeseTracker version 0.9.9 has been the latest official version since that time.
There is an unofficial version of CheeseTracker dubbed "Unofficial Release 0.9.10," which fixes several bugs.
Schism Tracker is another free Impulse Tracker clone that aims to be an exact replica - with exactly the same graphical user interface.
