Chessington South railway station is at the southern part of the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames in South London, and is the terminal station of the Chessington Branch. The station and the branch are served by South West Trains, and is in Travelcard Zone 6.
The station was built as a through station as explained in the Chessington Branch article - the intended Down line platform is not used. The lines continue beyond the station to a Network Rail Freight depot. It was supposed to have been joined with the line from Leatherhead, but due to a centuries old protection order on Ashtead Common to the south or Chessington, these plans were dropped, though in the early 21st Century plans were drawn up for a tunnel[citation needed]. The ticket office is at rail level. It is the station for visitors to Chessington World of Adventures.

The typical off-peak service from the station is two trains per hour northbound to London Waterloo, taking 33 minutes for the journey. On its way the train calls at Chessington North, Tolworth, Malden Manor, Motspur Park, Raynes Park, Wimbledon, Earlsfield, Clapham Junction and Vauxhall, making the train quite slow.
