Chipwich

Chipwich is a brand name dessert, consisting of an ice cream sandwich made with ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies. It was invented in 1980 by Richard LaMotta.
Chipwich, Inc., cofounded by LaMotta and Sam Metzger, was initially successful, but was forced into bankruptcy in 1984. It reorganized and emerged from bankruptcy in 1987. In 2000, it was acquired by CoolBrands International Inc., which also owned the Eskimo Pie brand. On January 24, 2007, CoolBrands sold the Chipwich and Eskimo Pie brands to Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, Inc., an indirect subsidiary of Nestlé.
