So hear's the deal,

Wikipedia is a place for people to come together and share facts in a civil manner. Like anything, there are limits to which the facts can be used. We have something called "POV" or "Point-of-View" and it is a measure of bias in edits performed by users of Wikipedia. I know you are a hockey fan, and good -- we need more of those, but I think you might be focusing your energies on Wiki on the wrong things. I am going to outline a list of problems that you have presented and hopefully how they can be fixed.

1) Words like Renegade and Unsanctioned are what we call "Weasel Words". They are proper descriptive words, but are used to flip bias against a subject. They should not be used in describing a league, team, or sport... really. A proper term with no bias would be "Non-Aligned".

2) "Sanctions"... I guess it is one of the Tomato/Tamata kinda situations there. The problem is that you cannot sanction a group that has no affiliation with you. These "Sanctions" are more or less guidelines or rules for future interaction.

3) Insurance.... if you were working at Microsoft and you left to be hired by Apple... would you still expect to be covered by Microsoft's insurance? Of course not, to state that as a relevant fact is superfluous.

4) The Rules against Non-Align leagues like the GMHL and JWHL do not matter unless you go back to Hockey Canada... and therefore belong on a Hockey Canada article, which they are already there. They do not need to be bulleted, nor do they need to be outlined in great detail as they are loose rules that really mean very little in the great scheme of things as the only way you get into real trouble is if you breach contract...

4b) Breach of Contract... if a player leaves a club to join another without release... of course he would be banned on either side that was effected by the breach... I think that kind of goes without saying...

5) Pay-to-Play... I know you like to talk about this. The thing is, all leagues do it... and usually only the rich ones don't... the difference is that the GMHL calls it registration... the OHA gives it cute names like "User Fees"... I've been there, it is not fun... I've also heard the horror stories of past teammate of mine getting on to OHA clubs and getting that treatment...

The bottomline here is... it's just a league... On Wiki, I currently do articles for 12 current Junior A leagues, 2 folded Junior A leagues, and numerous championships, not to mention almost every junior league in Canada's article was either created or touched by me. I am an OPJHL alumni and a fan of the OPJHL, and the teams I am cheering for are doing pretty good... I also believe that Non-Aligned leagues will greatly benefit Hockey Canada.

I first noticed your blog page months ago after you spent a few weeks heckling the GMHL Messageboard... I come by there and the OPJHL board regularly. I know you have a projected bias against the league that you often share on your blog... I just really wish you'd contribute positively more often... even to Wikipedia... OPJHL, Jr. B, Jr. C, and SOJHL teams need histories and stats that I have been trying to put together for over half a year now... instead you come by every once and a while and write about how much HC wants to sanction a league they have no legal bearing over.

As you may have noticed, the article got cut down severly the other day. Honestly... that is for two reasons. One, the CJHL... a league that has been around for almost half a century had less history than the GMHL and is by far more notable at in Hockey history terms considering it was a pro feeder league for many years for the Canadiens, Bruins, and Blackhawks... the GMHL has been around for 2 and a half months... ??? Why the need right? Two, I let someone who knows nothing of hockey and much about business read the article... she was shocked... she asked why it had to be so negative? It doesn't sound like they are doing anything wrong or illegal, just that they are not affiliated with HC. So, the problem has been fixed. Again, Wiki isn't a blog... and thoughts should be left to blogs. If you want to report a great historical fact... like a league record... goals, shutouts, milstones in general... go for it... just like you would on any other league page.

This e-mail is not meant to be malicious,

[edit] League Policy Articles

I have nominated this article for a merge to Hockey Canada. Here's the problem, you basically copy and pasted the OHF's Policy on to a page that is allegedly freeuse... I have gone to the liberty of hotlinking the PDF file directly to the Non-Aligned Leagues section of the Hockey Canada article and the External links section of the GMHL article. This information can simply be linked to in an article, like i just did... there is no need for copying published material to Wikipedia. DMighton 22:45, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind... I didn't realize the article was a copyright issue... an admin Deleted it... either way man, this is covered under Hockey Canada. We just aren't allowed to do that... I must admit, it would be easier that way though. DMighton 00:18, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
