[edit] article deletion
an article i like is going to be deleted, i dont think its fair and i think that WP:BIO made notable in the media fully covers him James Barnett what can be done to keep this importang page from being dleted? whats the margin for deletion is it a non binding referendum or is a simple 11-10 majority decision sufficient to kill it? or is it just a suggetion and then admins review it?Cholga 18:03, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Please read the deletion policies. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:31, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! The deletion discussion is not a vote, and so it is not a simple matter of a majority rule. An administrator will review all the arguments made regarding the article and then make a decision accordingly. At this point, I am not sure if there is anything you can do regarding the article--the discussion is whether the subject of the article is notable enough to warrant an entry. Improving the article won't affect the outcome, since the debate focuses on the subject. If the article does get deleted, however, you can always request a deletion review, a kind of appeals process for deleted articles. I hope this helps! -- Merope Talk 18:33, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Internal spamming
Please do not spam users regarding votes in an AfD. This type of internal spamming to influence a vote is not allowed per WP:SPAM#Votestacking. --Ragib 18:31, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Response to your question
Well, I'm not an administrator, so I wouldn't be the one making the final call. I will review the article and the debate and let you know. -- Merope Talk 18:50, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the article and the discussion, and in my opinion the article should be deleted. While his situation is incredibly sad, he is not notable enough. Students are sometimes expelled from school for being Wiccan, but that doesn't mean that each such student merits an individual article. The mention of the incident on the Trinity Christian Academy article is sufficient. I understand this is important to you, but after careful examination this is what I believe. -- Merope Talk 19:11, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your comment to User:Ragib
About the comment you left on User:Ragib user page [1], user pages are not the correct place for user comments. I relocated it to his Talk page [2]. -- Gogo Dodo 18:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Talk:Elephant, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Yamla 19:11, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
You said: "what vandalism are you talking about anyways?"
This blatant vandalism, though this is not the only example. --Yamla 19:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Im concerned about discrimination here here Performer has been in 100 or more movies (resource: iafd.com). Note: this criterion has been accepted for performers in heterosexual pornography only. Discussion is underway about an appropriate test for homosexual pornography. where is the debate for this, why is it differant for gay people? this is discrimination!! equal protection please!! where can i complain?
- You should first take this up on that article's discussion page. I agree with you that the criteria should be the same regardless of sexuality but at the moment, this is still in the discussion phase. --Yamla 19:35, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
You said: "I think you are being anal retentive and a hardass, i see how the comments on the talk page of that are unconstrucitve but it was a joke and i thought that it would be okay on the talk page. regarding + Did anyone else think that this is some funny shit!?Cholga 19:02, 19 September 2006 (UTC) that is not vandalism it was a legitimate question about what people thought about the colbert report thing. WHAT OTHER VANDALISM ARE YOPU TALKING ABOUT, YOU SAID YOU COULD COME UP WITH ANOTHER EXAMPLE I AM FURIOUS I AM USING BOLD I AM A SUPERSTAR SHOW ME THE MONEY? I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THESE SUPPOSED OTHER EXAMPLESChola out"
- I'm complaining about your claim that you have elephants in your back yard, that elephants live in Antarctica, and that they are overpopulating the world. Article discussion pages are to be used for improving the quality of the article and this is noted at the top of that particular article. Unconstructive edits are considered vandalism. --Yamla 19:38, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
You asked: "what about your socalled further examples of vandalism?"
- Your entire category of Gay unfriendly companies is a good example. It is uncited original research that opens up the Wikipedia to suits for libel. Your comment below about being a superstar is another example. This is a third example, an addition that makes no sense. --Yamla 19:48, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Response to your comment
Please confine the discussion of James Barnett to the deletion discussion page instead of questioning my reasoning on my own talk page. It's in your best interest to do so; the closing admin won't be looking at my talk page when making his or her decision.
I'd also like to remind you of our policy against personal attacks. Your comments directed at Yamla are in violation of that rule. Please keep a cool head when editing. -- Merope Talk 19:50, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Calling a user "anal-retentive and a hardass" is a personal attack. It's also impolite. Remember, editors here are trying to improve Wikipedia as best they know how. Assume good faith. -- Merope Talk 19:56, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Preview
Almost all of your edits contain simple errors in them. Things like blank mathematical formulae, duplicated sentences, etc. Please use the Show Preview button before committing your changes. You obviously are intending to make useful changes but this is leading to many editors reverting your additions. Also, please read WP:CITE, WP:RS, WP:V, and WP:NOT. Thanks, and happy editing! --Yamla 22:29, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Also, please run your edits through a spell checker. If you do not have a spell checker, let me know and I'll point you to a free word processing application. This will catch most of the more significant spelling errors in your contributions. It's not a particularly big deal, most spelling errors will be corrected by subsequent editors, but it does make your contributions less likely to be accepted. Thanks. --Yamla 22:33, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Changing quote
Please do not change direct quotes, such as you did to Human Rights Campaign, unless to correct the quote. You changed the quote so that it no longer stated what the Human Rights Campaign lists as their mission statement. --Yamla 23:01, 19 September 2006 (UTC) im sorry i didnt realize it was a quota, totally my bad. SUPERSTAR!
