Chris Cohen (born March 5, 1987 in Norwich, England) is a professional footballer who currently plays for Yeovil Town.
Cohen went to William Edwards School and Sports College, a school renowned for its sporting achievements. He is a product of the West Ham United youth system, often called The Academy of Football. Cohen made 21 appearances for West Ham during the final season of the First Division and the first of the Championship, mostly as substitute. Although under contract at West Ham, he spent most of the 2005-06 season on loan to League One side Yeovil Town. This deal was eventually made permanent in June 2006.
Cohen, a midfielder, made his first breakthrough into the West Ham first team during the 2003-04 season. The East London club were playing second-tier football at the time, after relegation from the Premiership the previous season. The drop, and subsequent loss of revenue, resulted in the departure of many of the clubs most talented players. This left the club with a much smaller squad, but brought with it opportunities for the younger Academy graduates. He made his debut as a sixteen year old, coming on as a substitute in West Ham's 3-2 win over Sunderland on 13 December 2003. He featured another six times that season, and went on to make 14 league and cup appearances the following season.
As West Ham returned to the Premiership for the start of the 2005-06 season, Cohen found his first team chances limited. After a single League Cup appearance for the club in September, he joined Yeovil Town on loan in November. The deal was extended until the end of the season during the January transfer window. Cohen finished the season with 31 appearances and one goal for Yeovil Town. At the end of the season, he won 4 Player of the Year Awards of Yeovil Town. Cohen joined the Somerset club on a permanent basis on June 28, 2006.
