Chris Cornes (footballer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Cornes (born December 20, 1986 in Worcester, England) is a footballer, who currently plays for non-League side Worcester City.
A midfielder, he came through the youth team ranks at Football League Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers before spending a period on loan at Port Vale in 2005-06. Yet to play for the first team, he escaped being sacked by the club despite being tested positive for cocaine. He denied knowingly taking the Class A drug but was suspended for six months by the English Football Association and was fined by Wolverhampton Wanderers and warned any future breach of discipline will result in the sack. [1]. His backdated ban expired in October 2006 but he was released by Wolves after another transgression of the club's disciplinary procedures.
On October 18, 2006 it was announced he had signed for non-League side Worcester City on a short term contract [2].
