Chris Foy (referee)

Christopher J. Foy is an English football referee. He was born on 20 November 1962[1], and first started refereeing in 1983. He comes from St Helens, Merseyside.[2]
In 1994 he was promoted to the Football League List of assistant referees, and progressed to the Premier League assistant referees' List in 1995.
He made the step up to the Football League as a referee in 1996, and became a Premiership referee in 2001, taking charge of the 0-0 draw between Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic on 15 December.[3] Earlier in 2001, he was appointed fourth official for the FA Trophy Final at Villa Park on 12 May, when Canvey Island defeated Forest Green Rovers by 1 goal to nil.[4][5]
In 2002, he was fourth official during the International friendly match when England lost 2-1 to Italy at Elland Road, Leeds, on 27 March.[6]
In total, Chris has officiated in 15 matches abroad.[7]
He was fourth official at the Millennium Stadium on 21 May 2006 for the Championship play-off between Leeds United and Watford. The London side ran out 3-0 winners.[8]
Nine days later he was fourth official yet again when England played Hungary at Old Trafford, England winning 3-1.[9]
Chris has been actively involved in the Don't X The Line[10] campaign to eradicate abusive or aggressive behaviour from players and spectators at junior and youth matches.[11]
