Chris Kelly (musician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Born and raised in Westchester County, New York, Chris Kelly met the members of Virus-23 while working at the Haven nightclub in Banksville, New York. It was during his time in Virus-23 that he was recruited by Chris Randall, the founder of Sister Machine Gun, to be a member. Kelly eventually made the difficult decision to leave Virus-23 for Sister Machine Gun. He moved to Chicago.
In 1994 Sister Machine Gun joined Chemlab and KMFDM for the Angst Fest tour. Some would argue that one of the highlights of this tour was Kelly's rendition of the Beastie Boys, "Paul Revere". This tour is one of the events that helped bring Industrial music out from the underground. They sold out the Limelight in New York City and the New York Times reviewed this show on Thursday, May 26, 1994.
Kelly eventually departed from Sister Machine Gun to work on a project called Gromet with Leonardo Canneto of Virus-23 fame. Kelly also joined Virus-23 during their 1994 and 1995 tours.
Nowadays, Kelly can be found running his two companies http://www.ignition13.com and http://themethlab.com. He also teaches at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
