Christian Heritage School (Texas)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christian Heritage School (CHS) is a Christian private school in Tyler, Texas that was founded in 1980, and is sponsored and funded by YWAM. The school was started and is currently run by Headmaster Mr. James Kilkenny, who also teaches at TJC, and Barbara Kilkenny. Calvin Todd is the Administrator.[1] There are roughly 169 students who attend the K-12 school.[1]
The school is fairly small and, due to its limited student body, the 7th and 8th grade share classes, the 9th and 10th grade share classes, and the 11th and 12th graders share classes. All with the exception of math and language classes. The school goes from kindergarten to senior high school. There is one building for the elementary, one building for junior high and high schoolers, and another building for junior high and high schoolers. There is also a Christian Heritage School in Longview, Texas; these two schools are considered rivals in their sports program. The teachers at Christian Heritage are not paid by the school or by YWAM for their teaching, thus they must make their own income.
CHS is not accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International, but has been an ACSI member school since 1981 (membership does denote approval of the school or its program).[1]
