Chua Sock Koong

Chua Sock Koong , born 1956) is the Deputy Group CEO of Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), She has served as Chief Financial Officer since April 1999 and has overall responsibility for the financial functions at SingTel, including treasury and risk management. In February 2006, she assumed the positions of Group CFO and CEO International, looking after the key drivers of SingTel's international business. In October, Ms Chua was appointed Deputy Group CEO of SingTel and she will be taking over Lee Hsien Yang as the Group CEO in April 2007.[1]. In announcing the appointment, Lee was quoted in The Business Times (Singapore):
"As a key member of the senior management team, Sock Koong has been intimately involved in all the key operational decisions, and has had broad exposure across all areas of the business. She has also been instrumental to developing SingTel's strategy over the past ten years and has played a significant role in SingTel's major acquisitions, divestments and partnerships."
In year 2005 Fortune magazine selected her in the Most Powerful Women leaders in Business 2005. She was placed in 43rd position.
