CIRK is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts classic rock at 97.3 on the FM dial in Edmonton, Alberta. The station, owned by Newcap Broadcasting, uses the on-air brand name K-Rock. At night, it plays Nights With Alice Cooper.
They often play music which was never truly a hit in itself, but a track from a hit album by a classic rock band: Calling these deep cuts. They play three classic Led Zeppelin songs at 9:00PM every night.
CIRK signed on the air in 1979 as K-97 and became an Edmonton favourite during the 1980's. For many years, mornings were hosted by Bruce Kenyon. The station has a reputation of keeping long term talented announcers. Rob Berg since the early 80's and Melissa Wright mid 90's. In 1997 the station was rebranded as K-Rock . In 1998 the station was purchased by Newcap Broadcasting, who already owned CKRA-FM and CFCW-AM in the city.
Through much of the next five years the station regained its success.
