Talk:Clan Gordon

[edit] Etymology?
I haven't read the article fully, nor any external links, so apologies if I have missed it, but does anyone know if the family took their name from the district of Gordon in the north-east, or if the district took its name from the powerful local family?
- Gordon, Scotland, a local government district from 1975 to 1996 (although, obviously, it is an old name for the area)
- Gordon (UK Parliament constituency), a parliamentary constituency of the House of Commons
- Gordon (Scottish Parliament constituency), a constituency of the Scottish Parliament
- Presbytery of Gordon, one of the Church of Scotland presbyteries, an administrative district
It seems to be an important point worth mentioning in the article. --Mais oui! 01:33, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
