Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Stakes is a race for thoroughbred race horses run during the Oak Tree Racing Association's Autumn Meeting at Santa Anita Park. The race is at one and one-quarter miles on the turf and is a prep to the Breeders' Cup Turf. A Grade I on the grass offering a purse of $250,000, the race was previously run as the Oak Tree Turf Championship Stakes or Oak Tree Invitational Stakes.
When it was the Oak Tree Turf back in John Henry's time, he won it three times: in 1980,1981, and in 1982 at the age of 7.
