Template talk:Cleanup-IPA
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I just saw this tag on Book of Revelation. What is the name of the other pronunciation system used there? And is there some reason we cannot have both systems present in articles? (i.e., is the plan to replace that with IPA pronunciation or to provide both?) I agree that IPA is superior but not everyone knows it. Jdavidb 13:54, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- I very much agree IPA forms should be added, and not replace more easily understood forms. Especially since many IPA symbols cannot be displayed on at least 75% of computers used to access the Internet. 24.19.145.84 21:58, 3 September 2005 (UTC) {User:Niteowlneils on the road and not logged in}
- I agree with adding, not replacing. Also why does this template have to go at the top of the article page, not at the bottom or on a talk page? Kappa 00:54, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- The idea that 75% of computers cannot display IPA symbols is completely erroneous! The 75% presumably relates to those using MS Intnernet Explorer. There's known problem with Internet Explorer, but it can be entirely overcome by the use of the IPA template. rossb 20:59, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
