Closer to Far than Near are the cult indie/emo outfit based in Scotland comprising MC Big Mac and 'T'. Formed in 2005 they have released one LP and nine singles. The original 50,000 copies of their CD sold out and they are rumoured to be close to signing with a number of major record labels having bought out their contract with Beggars Banquet Records.

The Band formed in 2005 when MC Big Mac met 'T' late one night in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park. They have produced a staggering amount of music in their short time together. They were originally one of the bands to take advantage of MySpace as well as offering free downloads from their website but the band has since denounced MySpace after it was sold into corporate sponsorship.

The band received a positive review from mainstream music magazine NME for their May 2006 performance at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

The band are known for their outrageous live performances which include chanting, breakdancing, light shows and other "quirky" unconventional mediums.

[edit] The Bite Incident

At a Gig in Aberdeen on the 23rd of November an event transpired which has since been referred to as "The Bite Incident" by fans on internet forums. An enraged 'T' jumped from the stage mid-set and began to repeatedly bite a teenage girl in the legs, arms and face and could only be restrained by two bouncers. 'T' claimed that the girl had shouted racist comments at him but the girl and many witnesses from the show denied this. Whilst this was going on, a drug fueled MC Big Mac proceeded to set fire to some of the instruments on stage and run around in a circle chanting manically. Gray's trial is pending.

[edit] The New Album

MC Big Mac has stated in many interviews that the band have been trying to put the "Biting Incident" in Aberdeen, as well as repeated sexual harassment cases brought against bandmember, 'T', behind them to focus on working on the new album.

The album, which is to be released in early 2007, is to be named "Discodeath: An Album for Outcasts".

The first single from the album is called "Disco Heaven Will Condemn Me To Electronica Hell" followed by the experimental jazz-fusion track "It Ain't The Years Honey, It's The Mileage..."
