CMP Technology (formerly CMP Media) is a business-to-business multimedia company that provides information and integrated marketing services to technology professionals worldwide. CMP offers marketers and advertisers comprehensive solutions including print, newsletters, custom Web sites and events. Its products and services include newspapers, magazines, Internet products, research, education and training, trade shows and conferences, direct marketing services and custom publishing.

Headquartered in Manhasset, NY, today CMP is part of United Business Media plc, a global information company providing group professional media and news distribution.

CMP divides the market into the builders, sellers and buyers of technology. The company publishes 80 business-to-business publications, operates 120 web sites and hosts 150 face-to-face events each year.

Publications for the builders of technology include EE Times and Dr. Dobb's Journal. Publications for the sellers of technology include CRN and VARBusiness. Publications for the buyers of technology include InformationWeek, Network Computing for the corporate IT user; Optimize for the CIO; and targeted publications for the financial industry (Wall Street & Technology, Insurance & Technology, and Bank Systems & Technology).

CMP Technology co-produces the Web 2.0 Summit along with O'Reilly Media, and is the owner of the USPTO Service Mark 'WEB 2.0'.

In 1971, Gerard "Gerry" Leeds and his wife, Lilo, founded the company. Their sons Michael and Daniel managed the company in 1988. CMP was sold to United Business Media's Miller Freeman in 1999 and in 2000, the IT portion of Miller Freeman was merged into CMP.

Recent acquisitions include LightReading, MediaLive International, Black Hat and Shorecliff Communications.

Steve Weitzner became President and CEO of the company in September 2005 after serving as chief operating officer for three years.
