The Coal Bucket is the trophy given to the winner of the annual Mount Carmel Area-Shamokin Area football game.

The Coal Bucket is a black metal bucket usually filled with ribbon, flowers, and other assorted things during the week of the big game. It is awarded to the winner at the game's end.

During the week of Coal Bucket festivites the two towns High School students have been known to commit friendly acts of vandalism from throwing eggs at football players houses to tearing down any signs supporting the local team.

The Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes have captured the trophy in 10 consecutive seasons against the cross-county rival, Shamokin Indians.
