Coalbrookdale railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coalbrookdale railway station was a station in Shropshire, England. The station survives situated on the freight only line between Buildwas junction and Lightmoor junction. The station buildings are now used by the Green Wood Trust. The Telford Steam Railway has aspirations to take possession of the up track passing through the station as part of its southern extension. There is no certainty that the Telford Steam Railway would be permitted to operate along this track whilst the other down track remains connected to the national network. Unfortunately it would be almost impossible to reinstate the station for passenger use because of the gradient of the line through the platform location exceeds that allowed for newly opened/re-opened stations.
The station building at Longville (another station on the Wenlock, Craven Arms and Lightmoor Extension railway) was a similar but reduced version of that at Coalbookdale.
