Coalition of the Radical Left (in Greek: Synaspismos tis Rizospastikis Aristeras or SYRIZA) is a coalition of left political parties in Greece.
SYRIZA was founded before the legislative election of 2004 by Coalition of the Left (SYN), the ex-eurocommunist Renewing Communist Ecological Left (AKOA), the trotskyist Internationalist Workers Left (DEA), Movement for the United in Action Left (KEDA) (split of the CP of Greece), Active Citizens (political formation around Manolis Glezos) and independent left activists.
After the elections members of DEA split and formed Kokkino (Red) which affiliated itself to SYRIZA.
In the legislative elections of 2004 SYRIZA gathered 241,539 votes (3.3%) and elected 6 members in the parliament.
