Color Kid (Ulu Vakk of the planet Lupra) is a DC Comics superhero, a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes in the 30th Century.
[edit] Pre-Zero Hour
Color Kid has the power to change the color of an object at will. He was not born with his powers; he was assisting a scientist when a beam of multi-colored light from another dimension struck him, granting him his singular super ability. He came to the try-outs for a Legion of Super-Heroes position (Adventure Comics #342) but was rejected. As is the case with some applicants who have borderline-useful abilities, it was suggested he look at joining the Legion of Substitute Heroes.
In Adventure Comics #351, he changes the color of the kryptonite cloud around Earth from green (deadly to then-current members Superboy and Supergirl) to blue (deadly to Bizarro creatures).
Later, when he is an adult, the Legion and the Subs join together and he is known as Color King.
[edit] Post-Reboot
Color Kid has not officially been seen since the Reboot, though a person bearing a rainbow-colored costume similar to Color Kid's uniform is seen in a splash page.
[edit] Other Media
Color Kid has appeared in the Legion of Super Heroes episode "The Substitutes". He was portrayed as social and friendly, and at times flamboyant, but not always aware of the limits of his powers - at one moment cleverly disguising himself and others, and another moment wondering if he'd have impressed the Legion if he'd used a different shade of green.
