About Colite International
Brief history - The Brown family has been in the sign manufacturing business for over 50 years. In 1947 H. A. Brown, Jr. and W.L. Gantt purchased Hite Signs, a company started in West Columbia, SC by D.I. Hite in 1923. Brown and Gantt merged with Colonial Metal Letters, Inc. to form Colonial-Hites Company, which was later renamed Colite.
Marty and Peter Brown grew up in the sign business working for their father at Colite and became the new owners of Colite in 1992. They expanded the company’s focus by establishing contacts in dozens of countries worldwide. Under their leadership, Colite went from only selling signs to implementing national and global sign programs. As of today, Colite has exported signs to 105 countries. Colite’s full range of services includes engineering, design, project management, surveying, installing, permitting, manufacturing and maintenance.
Market segmentation – Colite's market is segmented by both geography (global, national, or regional programs), and by organization type (corporate or retail). Its clients usually fall into two categories: 1) They have re-branded or undergone mergers or acquisitions and need signage conversion or 2) they are expanding their locations. In both scenarios, Colite centralizes the sign program by providing signage for all the locations worldwide, simplifying the process for our clients.
Sign Types – Colite has a client list of leading corporations and retailers with whom it partners and builds long-lasting relationships. Colite manufactures primary and secondary identification signage for these companies, specializing in building signage, monuments, pylons, lettersets and its patented Signature LEDs.
