Coming of Age in Mississippi

Coming of Age in Mississippi is the autobiographical account of Anne Moody, an African American girl growing up in rural Mississippi in the middle of the 20th century. The story follows Anne Moody, from her childhood through elementary school, high school and college, and eventually the Civil Rights Movement. The author gives a first hand account of the extensive racism that existed in the south during that period.
