The Garrett Historic Home/Commanding Officer's Residence built in 1867 is located in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at 504 East Coppinger Ave. and is open by reservation. It is open during the April and October historic site re-enactments located 300 yards from the historic museum. The home is a three story native rock structure with native walnut and oak woodwork. During military occupation, it served as the hub for balls and dances and social gatherings. Currently, it provides catered dinners, meetings, Victorian Teas, stolling tours or tours with docents in period dress. In addition, groups may have special re-enactors presenting various living history projects. The home is located on Hwy. 80A to the Fort Gibson Dam approximately one mile north of the Fort Gibson business district. Visitors may use highway 62 and take the Fort Gibson exit 10 miles east of Muskogee between Muskogee and Tahlequah. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places.
