i removed: "It is speculated that Rochefort was based on Henri-Louis d'Aloigny, the Marquis de Rochefort, although he was born many years later, long after his fictional counterpart had died."

if Rochefort the fictional character died, then a real-world boy was born after, how could the character be based on the boy? maybe this was supposed to read some other way, but as it is it makes no sense Bantosh 14 June, 2006

It probably means the real person was born after the date of the fictional events, but before the author wrote the book. Clarityfiend 00:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
