Sorry about that, I'm not very good when it comes to making my articles NPOV. Most of the information was taken directly from the website. I myself have never used the product, and simply tried to reword what they had already given. I'd be more than happy if you could make it NPOV. --«Θ» zeerus 16:46, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: Neuschwanstein
I don't edit Wikipedia much, so I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place or not.
Anyway, in response to your inquiry, the section I "blanked" out was a straight (and irrelevant) paste from another Wikipedia entry for "Lohengrin." Information about Neuschwanstein that is interrupted by a big, run-on section regarding a mythical character does not make sense. What is your disagreement with this? Please advise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.241.240.30 (talk • contribs).

[edit] Regarding a certain vandal
The "zomg User:Xtra is homophobic" vandal gets indefinitely blocked on sight as whatever IP he's using is almost certainly an open proxy. Many of the proxies he uses are poorly configured and result in \'\'\'backslashes\'\'\' being inserted into the page. If you see these kinds of edits, shoot first and ask questions later. — Apr. 9, '06 [11:54] <freakofnurxture|talk>

[edit] ContiE has impersonated me on other wikis
Hi, I'm in a potentially awkward position with an Administrator. I have read the Wiki pages on dispute resolution but I'm still not sure how to proceed.
The Admin ContiE has a personal grudge against me for reasons I do not fully understand. He has been this way since I began frequenting wikipedia.
I have done work improving the furvert article. He has basically gone on a crusade against any edit I make. He controls every furry category article and several others ruthlessly. He is an iron fist and bans anyone he edit wars with. I had uploaded pictures and he deleted them with no talking. He seems to believe I am every person he has had an edit war against. He is always using personal attacks, calling me troll without reason. I uploaded them again and he voted them for deleted, but to his surprise the person who runs the images, thank you Nv8200p, found they were acceptable once I tagged them properly. Just recently he removed both the images without himself discussing it in the talk page (unless he was the same person who discussed only one) with the edit here [1] Then ContiE assumed bad faith, added his constant insult of troll in the talk page. It appears on a completed different wiki, a comedy one in all things, somebody else stole my username and I believe this was Conti himself and uploaded them. ContiE showed it as his reason. While vandalism like his, I would revert and mention it, he would ban me permanently if I undid his edit. That is why I am asking admins for help. He holds a couple of accounts on wikipedia and I think they are administrators so I have to be careful who I tell about this. Arights 07:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CJBot
Hey - A couple of things your bot is doing seem odd to me... It edited a link on a user page which, it seems to me, should be out of bounds. Also, in this instance the edit summary doesn't seem to match the edit. Overall good work! Just hoping you can tweak these issues. -SCEhardT 20:28, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hrm... it also doesn't seem like a good idea to change signed comments on talk pages. In some cases it completely changes the meaning of the comment, such as when talking about the name of the 'Splog' page. -SCEhardT 20:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
It's "neologism", not "neolagism", and the comment it left on Advance fee fraud was not relevant. Thanks. PizzaMargherita 21:08, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
"Splog" is a widely accepted word, see google. How many pages do we have to revert your "neologasm" stuff on? Jeez. · rodii · 21:39, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Are you actually checking these edits? Your change to Spam blog resulted in "Spam blogs, sometimes referred to by the neologism spam blogs", which is nonsensical. There is a difference between using a neologism--marked as such--in the text of an article and having it as the title of an article. And you shouldn't, I think, be changing comments on talk pages, user pages, templates or archived refdesk pages. Can you refine this a bit? · rodii · 21:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- I agree completely - this bot needs some changes before running again. Edits should only be made to article space and certain Wikipedia space (not archived discussions). Also, there needs to be a way to filter out web links since those don't take kindly to being 'corrected'. Don't get discouraged but please do make some changes to the bot before running it again. -SCEhardT 22:08, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- That'll be hard. I could take it off automatic, but that would create hours of labour on mypart. I could tell it to skip articles containing .(term); but that wouldn't be perfect. I think my bot has pretty much failed and probably should be blocked. Computerjoe's talk 08:42, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

And more generally, is it a good idea to have a bot replace a neologism when we already have an article on that? Shouldn't the author check that first? And I would go even further: what's wrong with neologisms? If we don't have an article, it simply means that we don't have an article yet. Please be more careful and ask around if it's a good idea before unleashing your bots next time. PizzaMargherita 06:34, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I wanted your input on a WP:CIVIL issue, thinking that you'd be a good party to ask, given your interest in AMA and CJ. It involves a post I've made to WP:AN/I concerning the deletion of edited comments on a user talk page; taking a look over it should be sufficient explanation, so I won't repeat the details here.
I'm still waiting on a response by an admin at AN/I, but would appreciate the opinion of an outside party in the meantime. If you've got a minute, lemme know your take on it. Thanks. Tijuana Brass 05:28, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download
Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. [edit] Vandalproof
Thanks for clearing up how that works. My main reason for wanting the software is so that I can stop having to revert vandalism simply through patroling Recent Changes. Anyway, I saved the article on Shah Mahmoud Hanifi from deletion making the neccesary contribs discussed in its AfD. I've also done extensive revision to the National Security Archive article and created the article for the The George C. Marshall Foundation [2] - I'm the only editor who has even contributed to that article. I also updated articles relating to it so that they pointed to that article. [3] [4]. Please see the article histories for those articles since I made many edits to them over a period of time and they would still come up in the recent edits of those articles. I cleaned up POV in the Fred Carama article eventhough I was voting for its deletion. [5]. I standardized and removed unencyclopedic material as well as POV from the Diane Kunz article. [6] [7] [8]. I added a section to cover the media coverage controversy to the Matthew Shepard article. [9]. I assisted in standardizing the article on Robert Frager [10]. I removed POV from the Jesse Dirkhising article. [11] [12]. I cleaned up the article on the Media Research Center by deleting uncited material. [13]. I have also created the article American Institute of Afghanistan Studies.
Those are some of my contributions. Many of my other edits have been in AfD's and adding neccesary tags & citation requests. --Strothra 17:10, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Attention Moderators: Toolserver
As you may be aware, the English language Wikipedia is no longer replicating data to the Wikimedia toolserver. Therefore, the data provided by Interiot's edit count tool is growing increasingly out of date, and in the interest of more accurately responding to user registration requests, I'd like to ask all moderators to look into downloading other tools for determining raw edit counts independent of the toolserver. One alternative would be Flcelloguy's Tool, although I've found his tool a little takes a considerable ammount of time to retrieve edit counts, and as such is not ideal for what we're doing. I'd also like to recommend my raw edit counter, which can be found at User:AmiDaniel/EditCounter, that provides the ability to limit the number of edits to be counted as well as the namespace in which to search and, thereby, is able to run at a much faster rate than Flcelloguy's tool. If you choose to use my tool, I recommend that you query mainspace edits with the limit set to 500 (though the default is 250, which runs somewhat faster). In my local version of VandalProof, the count button now loads this tool to query mainspace edits with a limit of 500, and, unless I find a tool more suited to our purpose, this will likely become the standard in the next release. If you choose not to download an alternative edit counter, please be sure to check the contributions of all users who fall below the standard 250 mainspace requirement, as they may have become more active within Wikipedia since the toolserver went down and now may be suited to use VandalProof. I'm sorry about all the problems we've been having since VP's release, but we're hopefully nearing the end. Thanks again for all your help! AmiDaniel (Talk) 06:50, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help Me!
How long do you think I should wait until my next RfA? Computerjoe's talk 20:27, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- As long as it takes you to become more known around Wikipedia. Patience is the key; obviously you can work well and edit well without adminship, try to forget about adminship for a bit.
- If you want a more tangible answer, try a couple months. GofG ||| Contribs 20:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Help me (RfA wait)
For some reason (no idea why) Wikipedia won't let me edit the above section, so I'm starting a new one to give my 2p!
I see you have signed up to the admin coaching program. One way to help with the wait is to tell yourself that you won't think about it until that starts (unless it takes a crazily stupidly long amount of time). The problem is that a lot of people seem to oppose for the sole reason that you've had a past RfA that failed within a couple of months, rather than actually look at how good an admin you would be (bad reason IMHO unless the reasons for opposing are still true, but that should be explicitly said). The other thing is, whilst I personally have nothing against self-noms, and some people do like them, more people tend to hold them to higher standards. So would be best to wait till someone is willing to nominate you (I for one would be quite happy to when I think you're ready and likely to pass an RfA).
If you like, I could have a proper look at your edits etc to see if I'd support you in a RfA, and give a few more suggestions. Petros471 21:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- I know this too. ATM, I'm planning to have an RfA next month; two months after my last. The sad thing is that I'm now more experienced than some admins! Computerjoe's talk 06:26, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leaving Community Justice
Don't worry about it. I don't really have a problem with the project, and certainly not with its aims. It's just not really what I was expecting, or the way I prefer to do things. I'm working on a few long rambling pieces which I hope to post on my userpage in the near future (so probably in a few years!) that might explain my feelings better. Good luck with it in the future though.
As for the UKCOTW, I was hoping to get to work on that, but I got distracted by the massive backlog at CFD, and now I've got a heap of real life work to do. If you want to go ahead and take a look at it that would be cool.
Whereabouts in the UK do you live? Would you be interested in coming to a meetup in Cambridge sometime in May? I'm going to start planning that this weekend hopefully, it would be great if you could make it. the wub "?!" 20:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- I have a strict no meet-up policy. Sorry. Computerjoe's talk 20:04, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- That's OK. The problem with the UKCOTW is just getting people into it and getting past a "critical mass" so to speak. I feel a bit hypocritical pushing people to work on it, because I hardly ever do anything on collaborations - article writing isn't really my strong point. Nevertheless there's a lot of talented editors out there, and it used to do a pretty good job. the wub "?!" 20:11, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
