Concordia University, Nebraska, founded in 1894 and located in Seward, Nebraska, is a university of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod's Concordia University System. Concordia University, Nebraska is a Christ-centered learning community for students preparing to be dynamic servant leaders in the church and world.
This goal is accomplished through degree programs in professional education and the liberal arts. In addition, Concordia’s faculty, staff and students are committed to service to the church and community and to scholarly activity and research. These programs and activities are set forth in an explicit value system that has as its core: faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and only Savior of the world, commitment to the Holy Scriptures as the communicator of that faith and commitment to the Lutheran Confessions as a true exposition of the Scriptures.

[edit] Programs in a Christian Colleges
Concordia’s programs promote intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual growth. They nurture religious commitment, enlarge social and cultural understanding, provide insights for Christian action in the world and facilitate the ability to communicate effectively. The programs provide an opportunity for intelligent selection of vocations for service to God, church and society, and they are designed to develop the professional competencies and commitment required for responsible participation and leadership in a complex and diverse society.

The school is currently a fully accredited university with over 1200 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 50 undergraduate programs. Concordia University offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.), Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Music (B.M.), Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), Master of Education (M.E.), Master of Parish Education (M.P.E.), Master of Science in Family Life Ministry (M.S.F.L.M.). Concordia awards the Lutheran Teacher Diploma, the Director of Christian Education and Director of Parish Music certificates which allow holders of those credentials to serve as church workers in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.

There are 18 varsity sports teams including: Baseball (M), Basketball (M/W), Cross Country (M/W), Football (M), Golf (M/W), Soccer (M/W), Softball (W), Tennis (M/W), Track-Indoor & Outdoor (M/W), Volleyball (W), plus intramural sports. The school nickname is the Bulldogs.
[edit] Music, Theater, and Art
Concordia has more than a dozen musical groups including A Cappella Choir, Chamber Choir, Concordia Singers, and Wind Ensemble. Many tour coast to coast and some travel internationally.
Concordia has about 60 music and music education majors and about 20 minors, the largest number of any school in the Concordia University System. The school offers several programs, including a Bachelor of Parish Music, Bachelor of Music Education, B.S. in Secondary Education with emphasis in vocal or instrumental music, and Bachelor of Arts in music. All programs are fully accredited and the school is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
The drama department stages two full-length shows each year, in addition to one-act plays, readers’ theatre and a host of student directed productions. All theatrical productions which are performed by the department are represented in Playbill, the publication of the Alpha Psi Omega dramatic honor society.
Concordia’s art majors exhibit at the Marxhausen Gallery of Art, which also houses the university’s collection (more than 300 works of art) and hosts visiting artists from around the country. Concordia University also sponsors one of the largest centers for liturgical art in the midwest specialising in religious art for worship and devotion.
