Connie Chiu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Connie Chiu is one of the few famous people born with albinism and she is the only high-fashion model with albinism in the world.[citation needed]
She was born in Hong Kong in 1969 to a Chinese family. Like many people with albinism, she has had to wear sunglasses to protect her photosensitive eyes from the sunlight. The harsh sun burned her pale skin until the family moved to Sweden when she was seven, where the sun's rays were kinder.
At age 25, Connie went to a modeling agency to model for top photographers such as Terry Richardson, Paul Burley, Heidi Niemala, and Morten Smidt. She later studied journalism.
Chiu is also an actress, and has starred in the music video for the single "Stalker", directed by Alex Coburn, for the band Recoil (solo project of Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder).
