Consuela "Connie" Rubirosa is a fictional character, portrayed by Alana de la Garza, who joined the cast of long-running NBC drama series Law & Order during the premiere episode of Season 17 entitled Fame.[1] [6] Rubirosa is a Manhattan Assistant District Attorney and is the successor of Alexandra Borgia, who was murdered in Invaders,[2] the finale of Season 16. The first main character to be a Latina (even though she is half-Irish), Rubirosa works as the assistant to Jack McCoy.
Rubirosa's legal and political philosophy is being revealed as the seventeenth season progresses. As demonstrated in Corner Office,[3] Rubirosa is a strong women's rights advocate. In Melting Pot,[4] she revealed herself to be the daughter of a Spanish immigrant sympathetic towards illegal immigrant workers, for she passionately opposed McCoy and his legal strategy which, if employed, would have resolved the case but detrimentally affected those illegal immigrant workers who work for a contractor but were not part of the crime. While signs of compassion have been displayed, she showed no sympathy for the defendant in Avatar.[5]
