This is the trend within segments of the US Demographic to move from Conspicious Consumption to Conspicuous Conservation. It is becoming the socially correct thing to do.
Evidence of this growing trend is seen in the media with hollywood stars, acting as first adaptors of new technologoy, they embrace green and sustainable practices. This trend is evident in Contruction, Transportation, Energy and Lifestyle.
In construction, the advent of LEED ratings in commerical and residenital construction. with examples of the City of Boston adopting programs of building sustainability, America’s Cities ‘LEED’ the Way, The green building movement is being readily adopted into municipal facilities (read USGBC LEED Ratings,http://www.usgbc.org/)
