Copper benzoate

Copper benzoate (Cu(C6H5COO)2) is the copper salt of benzoic acid. It has found some use as a source of blue light in fireworks.

Copper benzoate can be synthesized by mixing a solution of sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate with a dissolved copper salt such as copper sulfate. Copper benzoate will form as a green precipitate.
