Coprophilia (from Greek κόπρος, kópros - excrement and φιλία, filía - liking, fondness) also known as fecophilia, fecalphilia or coprolagnia, is the paraphilia involving sexual pleasure through human feces, or rather to its excretion. Alternative terms include scat fetishism, japscat and scat play, which share a root with the scientific and literary term scatology. The term "toilet training" is sometimes used to refer to coprophiliac activities in the context of BDSM.^{[citation needed]}

Coprophilia is the attraction to the smell, taste, texture, or sights and sounds of the act of defecation as a primary means of sexual arousal and gratification. Erotic fulfilment with excrement may be practiced alone or with a sexual partner. A common slang term for this is scat sex. Except in the case of consuming feces, generally scat play is safe when played alone and safe with a partner if one uses protection so as not to come in direct contact with a partner's excrement. Women must be particularly cautious, as fecal bacteria are a prime cause of UTIs and vaginal infections.

Some coprophiliacs engage in coprophagia, the eating of feces. This is a potentially hazardous activity due to the risks of bacterial infection. Consuming even one's own feces could have potentially harmful consequences, as the bowel bacteria are not necessarily safe to ingest, though it is not as risky as eating a partner's feces. These risks include viral hepatitis and parasitic intestinal infections such as giardiasis, cryptosporidiosis, shigellosis, amebiasis and campylobacter.

A well-known literary work with larger coprophilia passages is 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade. Such acts also play a minor role in Thomas Pynchon's novel Gravity's Rainbow (pages 235-236 in the 1987 Penguin edition of the novel).
In South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Ms. Cartman is seen in a German fecal fetish video.
In the South Park episode, Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo, Mr. Mackey diagnoses Kyle with an acute case of fecalphilia. Kyle asks what it is and Mr. Mackey says, "It means you're obsessed with mookie stinks."
In Not Another Teen Movie, the character called Catherine is a Coprophiliac, making references to "taking a huge dump on [a person's] chest" after anal sex; This references an act specifically called a Cleveland Steamer.
In Team America: World Police, two puppet characters engage in a wide variety of sexual practices, including urolagnia and coprophilia.
In the movie Me and You and Everyone We Know, when the characters Robbie and Peter meet and chat with someone online, Robbie suggests that Peter write "I want to poop back and forth". He explains that this is defecating into someone else's anus,and that person defecates it back.
In Queer as Folk while using a bathroom stall to take drugs, Michael wonders where someone would go to the bathroom if they needed too. Brian suggested finding a "scat queen."
In the Adult Swim cartoon, Metalocalypse, the bands bass player, William Murderface is a diagnosed coprophiliac, which the audience becomes aware of in the "Happy Dethday" episode.
Coprophilia is also popular in Japanese hentai, Night Shift Nurses being one of the most prominent examples. It was originally banned for its excessive scatological content in the United States but has since been allowed to be sold.
