Council of Seleucia

The Council of Seleucia was a early Christian church synod that took place in Seleucia Isauria (now Silifke, Turkey) for the bishops of the Eastern Roman Empire in 359 A.D. Two synods actually took place simultaneously. The Council of Rimini was held for the bishops of the Western Roman Empire. The councils were called by the pro-Arian Roman Emperor Constantius II. The councils failed to resolve the Arian controversy over the divinity of Jesus Christ, an aspect of the problems of Christology that divided the fourth century Church.
