CountingDown.com is a website primarily focused on fandom and the film industry. The name comes from having count downs covering a variety of film productions as well as other entertainment media.

According to the site, it was created and operated by die-hard fans. CountingDown.com is a leading movie/entertainment site that serves up news, images, multimedia, events and more to a vibrant community of enthusiastic worldwide users who discuss, contribute, criticize and participate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the globe. Thousands of fans rally together in “countdowns”, dedicated sections that cover each movie in depth, to check out updates for all of their favorite movie releases, enjoy active message boards, exclusive content, analysis, interviews with stars and directors, as well as many other useful features that enable community synergies and build buzz.
A couple of people -- Lincoln Gasking in Melbourne, Australia; Phillip Nakov in Los Angeles, USA; and Tim Doyle in Toronto, Canada -- met over the Internet in 1998 and got together to create a place for the real fans of movies, people whose only currency (apart from the ticket price in their pockets) is plain old excitement. Acquired in June 2000 by DreamWorks SKG, Imagine Entertainment and Vulcan Ventures, CountingDown.com continues to forge ahead in online entertainment, sponsoring innovative online and offline events in a quest to create the ultimate destination site for fans while lowering the barriers that separate them and Hollywood.[1]
