The Crawlerway is a 100 foot-wide (30 m) double pathway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The pathway is designed to support the weight of the Space Shuttle and the Crawler-Transporter as the shuttle is moved to the launchpad. A seven foot bed of crushed stone lies beneath a layer of asphalt and a rock surface. The Crawlerway was originally used to transport Saturn V rockets during the Apollo Program.
The Crawlerway runs between the Vehicle Assembly Building and the two launchpads at Launch Complex 39 and has a length of 3.5 miles (5.6 km).
