[edit] Introduction
I'm an irregular contributor to Wikipedia, but I thought I should leave a page for comments and the like. My interests are varied; right now I especially enjoy mathematics, political science, and linguistics.
[edit] Programming
I program in a number of different languages, as noted in the userboxes. I've opted to leave out programming level, for lack of a standardized way to determine expertise. Also, for visual simplicity I've left off:
- Web design languages like HTML, JavaScript, PHP, and CSS
- Esoteric programming languages like BF
- Languages I don't use seriously like Forth
[edit] Math/PoliSci/Economics
- Cramér's conjecture
- Twin prime conjecture
- Odd perfect numbers
- Wikipedia:Requested articles/Mathematics
- Wikipedia:Pages needing attention/Mathematics
- Unsolved problems in mathematics
- Arrow's theorem: "Good" voting systems can't be IIA.
- Gibbard-Satterthwaite theorem: "Good" voting systems can be manipulated (unique winner).
- Duggan-Schwartz theorem: "Good" voting systems can be manipulated (winning set).
[edit] Academic beliefs
I believe in:
- The objective reality of mathematics, and in particular ZFC.
- The value of the Smith criterion in elections
- The use of quad precision in IEEE 754r
I don't believe in:
- Glottochronology as a reliable method for dating languages
- The value of Saari's analysis of the Borda count
- Universal grammar
[edit] Active/Stative languages
This might be the beginnings of an article, or additions to an existing article, or nothing. I haven't decided yet.
Split-S Languages
- Acehnese (Andréasson), Eastern Pomo (Nichols, quoted in Andréasson), Guaraní, Tonkawa (Nichols, quoted in Andréasson), Tsova-Tush (Nichols, quoted in Andréasson)
Mixed Languages
- Middle Welsh (Andréasson), Central Pomo?
Unknown
- Taba, Chochotec, Amuzgo, Ika, Kiowa, Navajo, Tobelo, Kedang, Chickasaw -- not a true active/stative language
