Crimes of the Heart is a 1986 film which tells the story of three estranged sisters who reunite at the family home in Mississippi. Lenny, the oldest at thirty and lovelorn, summons the love'em-and-leave'em Meg home from Hollywood when their youngest sister Babe shoots her own husband. This dark comedy stars Diane Keaton, Jessica Lange, Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard, Tess Harper and Hurd Hatfield.
The movie was adapted by Beth Henley from her play of the same name, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1981. It was directed by Bruce Beresford.
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Sissy Spacek), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Tess Harper) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
