Crows Nest is an affluent town in Marion County, Indiana, United States approximately 7 miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis. The town is adjacent to the neighboring community of North Crows Nest. The population was 96 at the 2000 census. It has existed as an "included town" since 1970, when it was incorporated into Indianapolis as part of Unigov, losing governmental powers thereto. It is legally part of Indianapolis, according to Indiana Code 36-3-1-4 sec. 4(a)(2), which states that the territory of a consolidated city (Indianapolis/Unigov) shall include "all other territory in the county except territory of an excluded city." While it is claimed that these "included towns" retain town status as defined by the state constitution, the current constitution of the state of Indiana does not define town status.
Crows Nest remains a very exclusive wooded residential enclave for the wealthy.
