Kevin Crothers is Chief Information Officer for First Choice Medical Supply, LLC. He and his wife Kim Crothers (married 10/2000) live in Ridgeland, Mississippi, US and have two children, Quinn (born in 10/2001) and Kacy (born in 07/2004). Kevin is also past and current President of the Harbortowne Property Owners' Association.

Kevin was born June 08, 1964 in Jackson, Mississippi, US. He's lived and worked out of the Jackson metropolitan area, ever since. Kevin's father, Larry Crothers, was a decorated WWII veteran, who passed in May of 1977. Kevin's mother Helen is in perfect health, also living in Ridgeland. Kevin has an older brother Cullan and an older sister Janet.

Kevin graduated with honors from Millsaps College in 1990, with a 3.64 GPA. Kevin had both Ford Foundation and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Pre-Medical teaching/research fellowships, and also won Millsap's coveted Biology/Pre-Medical Research Award. Kevin's father also graduated from Millsaps College in 1950, with degrees in Mathematics and English.

Kevin began his Information Technology career with three years technical research for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, where he built a computer-based laboratory management environment for parturition physiology research. He networked DOS and Windows286 data-collection clients to a DECVAX minicomputer, which was his data-depository, and then interfaced physiographs, IR spectrophotometers, balances, gas chromatographs, mixers and chillers, thermometers, and variac transformers to the clients. Nearly all testing and data-collection was done, hands-free. He gained experience with data communications and the operations and interfacing of laboratory instruments.
With these skills, he spent the next three years as Systems Manager for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality - where he implemented the state's first LIMS. In doing this, which required not only connecting instruments to local computers, but heavy use of both LAN and WAN connectivity, he developed a keen interest in open network and applications connectivity.
In late 1993, when the DEQ LIMS was 100% implemented and operational, he was asked to network and automate LDDS Communications into the largest communications company in the world. So, he built a LIMS Support and Administration team for DEQ and accepted the job. LDDS grew, quickly, with Kevin leading the Information Technology side of over 60 acquisitions - including WilTel, IDB WorldCom, MFS/UUNet, Brooks Fiber, SkyTel, CompuServe, AOL Network Services, and MCI - that ended up building MCI WorldCom, a Fortune 25 powerhouse that owned and ran over 50% of the Internet! Kevin lead and provided corporate communications for all these acquisitions - throughout 47 countries, and in doing this, developed a number of award winning and globally recognized websites, communications models, and the most heavily used intranet site in the world. From 1999-2001, Kevin was Vinton G. Cerf's MCI-to-WorldCom applications connectivity advisor, and attended many of Vint's monthly direct-report staff meetings. He learned a great deal from Vint, and is honored to have worked with him. In April of 2002, Bernard Ebbers, the CEO that hired Kevin, was released from the company, and so was Kevin - just two hours later.
Kevin then prepared for the CIO spot with First Choice Medical Supply by contracting with Health Management Associates for one year, where he architected and administered a HIPAA-secure communications infrastructure and became familiar with the technical and financial abilities of the healthcare industry's two leading suppliers, which would end up being First Choice's biggest sources for new customers - Medline and McKesson. Kevin joined First Choice Medical Supply as CIO in 2003 to create and provide http://www.fcms.com/services, the most exciting, dynamic e-Commerce environment the eldercare industry has ever experienced.
