Cularian System
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cularin System (also sometimes referred to as the Cularian System) was the first system to form in the Star Wars Galaxy at about 5,000,000,000BBY and is estimated to be the same age as the galaxy itself. The first star in the system to form was Morasil which was later accompanied by its binary partner, Termadus.

[edit] Morasil and Termadus
[edit] Morasil
Morasil was the first star to form in the Cularin System and also the first star to form in the entire Star Wars Galaxy. Morasil is most likely a yellow dwarf that has shrunk in its long life time. Alone, it produces a dim light that cannot reach the asteroid belt of the Cularin System.
[edit] Termadus
Termadus is the binary star partner of Morasil and is the younger of the two. It is a white dwarf and although it is the younger of the two stars it has nonetheless sped through its life.
[edit] Interactions
Termadus draws gases from the corona of its partner Morasil creating a gaseous haze between the two stars which creates the luminous equilvelant of a single bright star.
[edit] Role in the Star Wars Galaxy
Although the Cularin System has easy access to the Corellian Spine Trade Route it has only attracted attention from the rest of the galaxy recently.
[edit] Gravitational Anomalies
The above statement is mostly due to the strange gravitational fields that seem to surround almost every object of the system. Firstly, the core of three of the planets are far denser than normal resulting in larger hyperspace gravity reflections than normal, which periodically overlap making them even worse. Making jumps into the Cularin System is very difficult for nav computers for this reason, although it is possible.
[edit] Comet Cloud
A dense cloud of comets surrounds the entire system (similar to the Kuiper Belt in our own Solar System) which makes it difficult to enter. Most of these comets have dense core similar to the planets which causes more frequent and more dramatic interactions between the comets; they often collide creating many smaller fragments of comet which contribute to the dense cloud.
[edit] Course of Action
Because of these dangers precautions have to be taken when entering the system. It is safest to arrive at a point just outside of the comet cloud, read the behavior of the comets and then make a calculations for a second jump into the system itself. Larger ships proceed into the system from the comet cloud with sublight engines to their final destinations.
[edit] Planets
The Cularin System is just like many other solar systems in that the star (in this case stars) is orbited by planets and other celestial bodies. Starting from the closest to Morasil and Termadus, the system composition is as follows:
Acilaris, Almas, Asteroid Belt, Cularin, Genarius, Morjakar
[edit] Acilaris
Main article: Acilaris
The closest planet to the twin suns, Morasil and Termadus. It could be easily mistaken as a large asteroid but is definitely a planet. Acilaris has enough gravity to maintain an atmosphere (comprised mainly of hydrogen with traces of sulfur, carbon and boron). Because of its proximity to the suns, the surface temperature of the planet is extremely high and so ships can't land on the surface and for this reason nobody has ever visited the Acilaris. Sensor scans have revealed a variety of rare minerals and even some crystals.
The presence of these minerals in other planets has meant a lack of interest in Acilaris although it is rumoured that one company has a contracted with the droids of Uffel to produce some special droids that could withstand the surface temperature.
[edit] Almas
Main article: Almas (Star Wars)
Almas is an oddity both because the world is seemingly worthless and also a contradiction to nature. Orbiting multiple suns in the Cularin system the planet, according to the current astronomical reasoning, should be lifeless and covered with ice. Nevertheless, Almas has a hot molten core and is said to be a terrestrial world, with an atmosphere containing methane and phosphorus. The planet was considered uninhabitable until the arrival of Darth Rivan.
[edit] Asteroid Belt
The asteroid belt of the Cularin System is occupied and used by two smuggling groups; the first and largest is Nirama's criminal organisation. The second is Riboga's old stronghold, now inhabited by pirates who change location regularly to avoid detection by Nirama and the military.
The asteroid belt makes a perfect place to attack incoming freighters, as most of them have to stop and fly through the belt at sublight speeds, or go around. Pirates seemingly well informed of the ship's route converge on a freighter as soon as it emerges from hyperspace, pick it dry, and then disappear into the relative safety of the rocks. These attacks happen so quickly, the military has little or no time to respond. To counter the rapid attacks, Colonel Tramsig recently laid a trap by sending military cruisers instead of freighters on several trips. One cruiser engaged pirates and destroyed five pirate vessels. The pirates have become more cautious in their attacks.
[edit] Cularin
Main article: Cularin
Cularin is a tropical planet in the Cularin System. It has two moons, the molten Rennokk and the barren Tilnes.
