Current Opinion in Genetics & Development
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development [ISSN 0959-437X] is a review journal launched in 1991 and is one in a series of ten Current Opinion journals published by Elsevier. The journal aims to cover all the major recent advances in the study of genetics and development, and to direct readers to the most important original research. Each themed issue or ‘section’, published every two months, is edited by two world-leading scientists who specialise in the field and invite authors to contribute reviews aimed at experts and non-specialists.
The journal issues:
February • Oncogenes and cell proliferation • Expression and functions of proto-oncogenes, oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes; control of cell proliferation; mechanisms of growth factor action; therapy and drug resistance
April • Chromosomes and expression mechanisms • Mechanisms of controlling gene expression in eukaryotes, prokaryotes and viruses; epigenetics; RNA-based gene regulation (RNAi and microRNA)
June • Genetics of disease • Strategies and results of mammalian genome mapping projects; genetic basis and inheritance of diseases; opportunities for treatment and prevention
August • Pattern formation and developmental mechanisms • Mechanisms underlying the development of pattern in plants and animal embryos
October • Differentiation and gene regulation • Control of gene expression, especially in differentiating cells; differentiation of specialized cells; and development of prokaryotes and lower eukaryotes
December • Genomes and evolution • Molecular evolution; gene rearrangement; genome mapping in non-mammals; bioinformatics
