Could anyone give me any information about the Curitiba Cultural Foundation and any examples of their work/initiatives etc.? I can find a few reference on the net, but all in Portuguese, which I don't speak!

The “Fundação Cultural de Curitiba” is na departament of the city administration that is in charge of intermediating the cultural production (films, videos, art expositions and etc…) between the producers and the supporters (usually large companies).

There is a local law here that permits some of the money that the companies would be paying to the government to be used in cultural productions. Some of this year productions are:

Curitiba, 26 de julho de 2005. NAME PROJECT POINTS Danilo Bogo Quarteto de Violões da EMBAP 99,57 Pontos Maurício Soares Carneiro Clarino – Quarteto de Clarinetas 98,14 Pontos Valdemar Lacerda Schettini Vadeco e Os Astronautas 96 Pontos Roseane dos Santos Noivas na Cidade 91,86 Pontos Rafael Eduardo Gomes AFROJAH 84 Pontos Téo Massignan Ruiz Casca de Nós 81,57 Pontos Pedro Gonçalves Conjunto Regional “Cordas de Ouro” 80 Pontos Paulo Sergio Santos Branco Musicação Sotak 80 Pontos

[edit] Lets improve our city wiki !!!

Hello fellow inhabitants of Curitiba, I've just added some more info on transportation and weather, I hope you like it, I'll try to come and add some information on a regular basis, I just saw the Wiki from Munich on Germany and found it superb, we could do some improvements for Curitiba too... Mad hans 03:20, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. Curitiba is by far the most advanced city in Brasil in many aspects, its article surely deserves more information. Let us also see some photos of such a marvelous city as well! I've been improving the article of my home city Belo Horizonte, and now I shall see if I can find some Curitiba pictures and add them here. Cheiro de lysoform 22:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
  • I've read the Curitiba artice due to the city's urban planning and transport network, which is cited as and example of quality and excellence. The article has a nice section on it but, in my humble oppinion, it deserves an expansion. It would be nice if someone could add more information regarding it, specially on the express bus transit system. Also, personally I believe it would be great if a picture of them was added to the article, similar to the picture showing the city's famous and uniqe bus stops. Besides that, it's a great article on a great city. Kudos! --Mecanismo | Talk 15:43, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Transportation

"Public transportation consists entirely of buses." That's not much help in terms livability, I cannot see Curitibia winning any awards for its livability, if you don't beleive me, first condisder that "busses are boring," look at the major winners of the world's most livable city awards, Melbourne has extensive electric railed transport, trams and trains, Vancouver has trolleybusses and a skytrain, Montreal is largely in favour of underground metro rather than "boring busses." Curitibia desearves better!Myrtone (the strict Australian wikipedian)(talk)

Ok. Actually, Worldwatch Institute gave a Prize to the public transportation of Curitiba in 1991. Recently, the British National Museum of Science and Industry gave the 2001 World Technology Award for Transportation to Curitiba. In the point of livability, only no Curitiba, Jaime Lerner, the former mayor constructed it, wins a lot of prizes, too. And, many inspecting parties are sent to Curitiba by each country or city every year to inspect a lot of things. I think, attention and the evaluation to Curitiba are very high in the urban planning.--Morio 15:45, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] on External links (Photography)

a copy from User talk:Morio#Photo

Hello, Morio. I see you have deleted the external link i included in the Curitiba article, marking it as "spam". Sorry, but I don´t agree with you. I am a contributor of Wikipedia since april 2005, i share content on Wikipedia Commons (in CC-BY-SA) and all my photos in my website are licensed under Creative Commons licenses (CC-BY-NC-ND). I think my page (I don´t know if you have visited it) contributes with helpful content to all non-brazilian public who are interested in Curitiba. Ah, by the way, I don´t have commercial purposes. That´s why I´m putting the link back. Cheers,--Mathieu Struck(edit: I don´t know why, but the external link is taking to Microsoft webpage. copy and paste this address on your browser: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mathieustruck/)

I deleted it for I thought no link in the line. And I mended the mistake of the link. Thank you. --Morio 02:52, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
