John Michael Stipe (* 4. ledna 1960 v Decatur, Georgia) je zpěvákem a zakládajícím členem americké rockové kapely R.E.M. Michael Stipe je známý pro svůj mumlavý styl zpěvu na počátku své kariéry, ale také pro své komplexní a surrealistické texty a politický aktivismus. Stipe a ostatní členové R.E.M. se stali „kmotry“ alternativního rocku a jsou možná první kapelou tohoto stylu, která získala celosvětovou slávu.
