Dalal Street
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dalal Street (Marathi: दलाल - Dalāl means a broker, or dealer) in downtown Mumbai, India is the location of the Bombay Stock Exchange (in the Phiroze Jeejeebhoy Towers) and several related financial firms and institutions. When Bombay Stock Exchange was moved to this new location at the intersection of Bombay Samāchār Marg, Hammam Street, the street next to the building was renamed as Dalāl Street. Similar to Wall Street in New York City, it is often used as a synonym for the Indian financial establishment in general.
