Dale Lavelle Carter (born November 28, 1969 in Covington, Georgia) is an American Football cornerback who has played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1992-1998), Denver Broncos (1999-2000), Minnesota Vikings (2001), New Orleans Saints (2002-2003), and Baltimore Ravens (2003-2005).
Carter was drafted as a cornerback by the Chiefs in the 1992 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee and became a vital part of the Chiefs' defense in the 1990's under Marty Schottenheimer. In 1992 Carter was chosen as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. His career was magnificent in his earlier years, however, around 1998, he was suspended from the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy. The same happened the next year. After the 2005 season, he did not return to the Baltimore Ravens and currently remains a free agent as of the 2006 season.
