Dalia Itzik

Dalia Itzik (Hebrew: דליה איציק; born October 20 1952) is the current speaker of the Israeli Knesset and Acting President of Israel.[1] She is a member of the Kadima party. She was elected and took office as the first female speaker of the Israeli parliament on May 4, 2006.
Itzik was born in Jerusalem to a family of Iraqi origin. Before being elected to the 12th Knesset in 1992, she served as Jerusalem's deputy mayor. As a member of the Labour party, she served as Commerce, Environment and, most recently, Communications Minister.
On November 28, 2005, Itzik quit the Labour party and joined Ariel Sharon's newly formed party, Kadima.
On January 25, 2007, after Israeli President Moshe Katzav took a three month leave of absence, Itzik became Israel's first female acting President.
