Daniel Shersty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dan Shersty (died July 4, 1998) was a 20 year old airman working on F-16's and other fighter planes at Nellis Air Force Base. He was also a prominent anti-fascist and best friend to fellow activist Lin Newborn. Both men's bodies were found on July 6, 1998 three miles west of U.S. Highway 95 near Rome Boulevard within 200 yards of each other. According to police, Shersty was badly beaten before being slain execution-style with a single shot. Police have speculated that the two victims may have been lured to a desert area in the northwest part of the valley where they were shot to death and possibly tortured by white racial extremists. John "Polar Bear" Butler, 26, a known neo-nazi was caught and charged with murder. He is registered with the Las Vegas police department's gang unit as a white supremacist and is currently serving time.
