Danta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Danta is the common name for the three species of tapir found in Latin America, the Baird's Tapir, Brazilian Tapir, and the Mountain Tapir. The name comes from the old Spanish word for an elk-like grazing animal. A young tapir is sometimes referred to as "dantica".
Danta or La Danta is also the name of the largest Maya temple complex situated in El Mirador, Guatemala.
