Dante Stakes

The Dante Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs and 88 yards (2,092 metres) at York Racecourse in May.
It was first run in 1958 and is named after Dante, the Yorkshire-trained winner of the Epsom Derby in 1945. The race is now a leading Derby Trial, with winners often becoming favourite for the big race. The most recent Dante Stakes winner to be victorious at Epsom was Motivator in 2005.
