[edit] 14 December 2006 cleanup

I just went through and did big clean up and cited references. I added more biographical information in order to better flesh out the article and assert notability. It had previously been tagged for notability, cleanup and wification. It looks notable and thoroughly wikified to me now. It could stand some more work, but virtually all of them can. I'll be keeping tabs on the article and will keep adding to the article and cleaning it up, but I think the bulk of the work in getting it good to go is complete, so I've removed the work tags and am now classifying it a start-class article.
